Icebreaker Results

Results from the weekend gala are now available.

Despite the worse of the Siberian weather that hit the South East during the latter part of last week, the Icebreaker truly lived up to its name!

Unfortunately, the Promoter had to cancel the first session on Friday evening under the guidance of the Leisure Centre Management.

Remarkably, the first warm-up on Saturday morning only started 10 minutes late but with a noticeably reduced field of competitors, which was reflected in the list of withdrawals announced at the beginning of each event! Needless to say a very ‘flexible’ approach was adopted to signing-in especially if coaches were aware that competitors were on their way.

The Promoter, however, did advise that following a Met Office update at 1pm, a decision would be made as to whether the afternoon and evening session would continue and also the intentions for the events on Sunday.

Whilst, it was decided to cancel the Saturday evening session, the rest of the sessions went ahead as planned which is a huge testament to the Promoter, Officials, Swimmers and Parents!

Full refunds will be issues to swimmers that were entered for Session 1 (Friday evening) and Session 4 (Saturday evening).

The Promoter even managed to squeeze in Time Trials for those events that were cancelled on Saturday evening. Whilst there weren’t any presentations for these events they will be recognised as a time gained at a Level 2 Licensed Meet.

Notwithstanding the conditions, there was still a very strong field from Thanet Swim Club and some remarkable PBs were achieved along with a host of Kent and South East Regional Qualifying Times. A full update of individual performance will be posted under the Gala Tab but in the meantime a full list of result can be found here.
