| thanet Swimmers benefit from latest technology |
Thanet Swim Club are using the latest ‘state of the art' technology in training for the Kent County Championships which start on the 18 th February and last until mid March. The club have a record number of entries at this year's championships, which is a result of the efforts of the coaching staff and the dedication and determination of the swimmers.
Thanet Swim Club were visited by Mr. Mervin Davey, the Director of Sport at the Ursuline College. The Ursuline College has the status of being a Specialist Sports College and part of their directive is to forge links in the local community to highlight the latest technology in sport and in turn share information and resources to aid both the schools and the community. The Thanet Swim Club swimmers are trailing the Dartfish Performance Software which is used by the American Swim Team. The Dartfish software allows you to integrate video to its maximum potential in sports training. It will improve an athletes performance by giving instant, visual feedback, allowing you to see how you can perfect all aspects of your stroke development in a sport that requires great discipline and where just hundredths of a second could win or lose a race. The Dartfish software will enhance the young athletes rigorous training schedule under the watchful eye of their Coach. Head Coach David Whorlow said “Instantaneous visual feedback is one of the best tools a Coach can provide for an athlete to optimise their performance. I believe the Dartfish software program will be a great asset to all types of young athletes within Thanet and will enable Thanet Swim Club to remain at the top of a very competitive world of swimming”.
