The Kent County Amateur Swimming Association 2006 Championships resumed at Crystal Palace and Tonbridge Wells over the weekend and 21 swimmers from Thanet Swim Club wasted no time in carrying on where they left off, winning a further 2 Silver and 8 Bronze medals as well as a further 15 top six finishes. 11 year old Evie Bunte continued her good form by winning a further two Silver medals and a Bronze medal over the weekend. Evie won her first Silver in the 800m Freestyle on Saturday, cutting her personal best time by 10 seconds, and followed that on Sunday with a Silver in the 100m Freestyle and a Bronze in the 50m Freestyle. Lacey Palmer was also in the medals again with two blistering performances in the sprints. 13 year old Lacey came from being ranked 15 th in the 50m Butterfly to win the Bronze medal and then repeated the feat in the 50m Freestyle, this time being ranked 9 th and again coming through to win the Bronze medal. 14 year old Jade Henson had a great race in the 800m Freestyle on Saturday and came away with a six second personal best time and a Bronze medals for her efforts. Louise Gates competed in the 13 year age group in the 800m Freestyle and also recorded a new personal best time when she too won the Bronze medal. Katy Little competed in the Girls 15 year age group and claimed herself a Bronze medal in the 100m Freestyle. Thanet Swim Club also had medal success with the Relay Teams at the weekend. In the Girls 15/16 year age group, Katy Little, Sharnie Clements, Rebecca Kearney and Amy O'Connor won the Bronze medal in the 4x50m Medley Relay final. In the Girls 12 & Under 4x50m Freestyle relay final, the team of Samantha Woodbridge, Kirsty Thorpe, Evie Bunte and Charlotte Davies went 1.5 seconds faster than in the heats and claimed the Bronze medal for their efforts. There were a further 10 Top Six Medal finishes. Fourth Place medals went to Lacey Palmer - 800m Freestyle, Evie Bunte – 50m Butterfly, Katy Little 200m Individual Medley and Louise Gates – 400m Individual Medley. Fifth Place medals went to Katy Little – 100m Backstroke, Jack Little – 100m Freestyle and Milly Henson – 400m Individual Medley. Sixth Place medals went to Chloe Thorpe – 800m Freestyle, Jack Little – 200m Butterfly and Jade Henson – 200m Individual Medley. Two of the relay teams gained 4 th place finishes. The Girls 13/14 year 4x50m Freestyle team of Jade Henson, Milly Henson, Louise Gates and Lacey Palmer as well as the Ladies Open 4x100m Freestyle team of Lacey Palmer, Sharnie Clements, Jade Henson and Katy Little. The Girls 13/14 year 4x50m Medley team of Lacey Palmer, Louise Gates, Jade Henson and Milly Henson came in 5 th place as did the Girls 15/16 year 4x50m Freestyle team of Sharnie Clements, Amy O'Connor, Rebecca Kearney and Katy Little. There was a 5 th place finish too for the Ladies Open 4x100m Medley relay team of Amy O'Connor, Sharnie Clements, Jade Henson and Katy Little. A total of 20 South East Region Championship qualifying times were gained by Louise Gates (4), Lacey Palmer (3), Charlotte Davies (2), Evie Bunte (2), Jade Henson (2), Katy Little (2), Jack Little (2), Sharnie Clements, Milly Henson and Chloe Thorpe. 20 new personal best times achieved coming from Chloe Thorpe (2), Lacey Palmer (2), Evie Bunte (2), Louise Gates (2), Sharnie Clements (2), Matthew Fitt, Milly Henson, Samantha Woodbridge, Charlotte Davies, Kirsty Thorpe, Jade Henson, Amy O'Connor, Jack Little, Nick Brown and Ashley Thorpe with a good swim by Joshua Bradford and in the relay events by Phillip Kearney, Charlie Cotton and Keiron Piper. This weekend will see the final events in the 2006 championships at the Black Lion Leisure Centre in Gillingham. The Thanet Swim Club swimmers look certain to finish with a record haul of medals as well as gain the club's highest ever Club Championship finish.
