Eighteen swimmers from Thanet Swim Club went to the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre over the weekend to compete in the Leatherhead Level 2 Licensed Long Course 2006 Open Meet and returned with 5 Gold, 13 Silver and 7 Bronze medals as well as a further 16 top six finishes, 1 National Qualifying Time, 41 South East Regional Championship Qualifying Times, 6 new Club Records and 64 personal best times.

13 year old, Louise Gates hit the Gold trail in more ways than one. In winning a spectacular 800m race on the Friday night, Louise not only won the Gold Medal but also gained herself a qualifying time for the National BAGCAT Championships in Sheffield at the end of July, making it 3 years in a row Louise has achieved qualification. It did not stop there either as Louise won the Silver Medal in the 400m Freestyle and the Silver Medal in the 200m Breaststroke.

14 year old Jade Henson was also in fantastic form over the weekend. Jade won the Gold Medal in the 400m Individual Medley as well as the Gold Medal in the 200m Butterfly. There was also a Silver Medal for Jade in the 200m Individual Medley rounding off a great weekends performances.

Lacey Palmer was in amongst the medals again. The 13 year old won the Gold Medal in the 200m Backstroke. Lacey was also a double Silver Medallist, coming in the 100m Freestyle as well as the 100m Backstroke.

Evie Bunte was another Gold Medallist at the weekend. 12 year old Evie won the Gold Medal in the 200m Backstroke and also won the Silver Medal in the 50m Freestyle.

15 year old Katy Little was a quadruple Silver Medallist. Katy picked up her Silver Medals in the 100m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle. Another Silver Medallist at the weekend was 10 year old Elisha Kennett, coming in the 200m Breaststroke. Elisha also won a Bronze Medal in the 200m Backstroke.

12 year old Charlotte Davies won the Silver Medal in the 200m Backstroke and also earned herself the Bronze Medal in the 100m Butterfly. Another 12 year old, Aaron Clements was also a Silver and Bronze Medallist. Aaron won his Silver in the 200m Butterfly and the Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley.

15 year old Sharnie Clements was a double Bronze Medallist. Sharnie won the Bronze medals in the 100m Breaststroke and the 50m Freestyle races. 10 year old Ben Pond won the Bronze Medal in the 400m Individual Medley and another 10 year old Jake Davies completed the podium places with his Bronze Medal in the 200m Breaststroke.

There were 4 th place finishes for Milly Henson (100m Breaststroke and 200m Butterfly), Lacey Palmer (50m Freestyle) and Evie Bunte (800m Freestyle). 5 th Place finishes for Evie Bunte (400m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke), Katy Little (100m Freestyle), Charlotte Davies (50m Freestyle), Milly Henson (200m Breaststroke) and Samantha Woodbridge (100m Breaststroke). 6 th place finishes were achieved by Charlotte Davies (100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley), Lacey Palmer (200m Freestyle), Evie Bunte (200m Freestyle), Jake Davies (50m Freestyle) and Samantha Woodbridge (200m Breaststroke).

6 New Club Records were set at the weekend. Katy Little set 3 new records coming in the 15/16 year age group and the Open age group for the 50m Freestyle as well as the 15/16 year age group for the 200m Freestyle. Louise Gates set 2 new records in her 800m Freestyle performance setting new marks in the 13/14 year age group as well as the Open age group. 13 year old Jack Little set the new 13/14 year age group record in the 100m Butterfly.

41 South East Region qualifying times were set by Katy Little (6), Charlotte Davies (5), Lacey Palmer (4), Jack Little (4), Evie Bunte (4), Louise Gates (4), Jade Henson (3), Sharnie Clements (3), Jake Davies (2), Libby Henson (2), Aaron Clements, Elisha Kennett, Chloe Thorpe, and Ben Pond.

64 new personal best times achieved coming from Charlotte Davies (8), Jack Little (7), Evie Bunte (7), Samantha Woodbridge (6), Jake Davies (5), Jade Henson (4), Louise Gates (4), Katy Little (3), Lacey Palmer (3), Sharnie Clements (3), Libby Henson (3), Grace Fright (3), Milly Henson (3), Rebecca Kearney, Aaron Clements, Ben Pond, Chloe Thorpe and Elisha Kennett.
