Norwich Points Seahawks To Nationals

Thanet Swim Club had 13 swimmers attend the Norwich Open Long Course Level 2 Licensed Meet held at the UEA Sportspark over the weekend. The main targets at the 50m pool meet were for South East Regional Championship and National Championship qualifying times and the meet at Norwich presented a high quality of competition to help meet those targets.

The Seahawks performed well over the weekend and claimed 4 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, 1 Bronze Medal, a further 12 top six finishes, 5 new Club Records, 3 National Youth Championship qualifying times and gained 30 automatic and 12 base South East Regional Championships qualifying times generating 30 new Personal Best times in the process.

14 year old Charlotte Davies claimed two National Youth Championship entry qualifying times at Norwich coming in both the 200m Individual Medley and the 400M Individual Medley whilst another 14 year old, Samantha Woodbridge gained her first National Youth Championship entry qualifying time in the 50m Freestyle.

Charlotte Davies was also a Double Gold Medallist at the weekend claiming the top spot in the 13/14 years girls 400M Individual Medley in 5mins 15.17secs as well as winning the 200m Individual Medley in 2mins 28.77sec. Samantha Woodbridge won the Gold Medal in the 13/14 year girls 50m Freestyle in 28.39secs and Evie Bunte (13yrs) was also a Gold Medallist in the 13/14 year girls as she claimed the top spot in the 100m Backstroke in 1min 10.94secs.

It was Double Silver as well for Charlotte Davies as she claimed 2 nd place in the Open Age group for the 200m Individual Medley and then claimed Silver in the 13/14 year girls 100m Butterfly in a blistering 1min 08.44secs. Louise Gates (15yrs) won the Silver Medal in the 15/over girls 400m Freestyle in 4min 42.81secs and Samantha Woodbridge added to her collection with the Silver in the Open Age group of the 50m Freestyle and also won a Bronze Medal in the 13/14 year girls 100m Freestyle in 1min 02.49secs.

The swimmers gained four 4 th Place finishes with Charlotte Davies in the 13/14 year girls 100m Breaststroke, Evie Bunte in the 13/14 year girls 50m Backstroke, Jake Davies (12yrs) in the 11/12 year boys 200m Breaststroke and Kyriacos Papa-Adams (11yrs) in the 11/12 year boys 50m Breaststroke.

There were three 5 th Place finishes for Evie Bunte in the 13/14 year girls 400m Freestyle as well as the 200m Backstroke and Charlotte Davies in the 13/14 year girls 200m Freestyle.

A total of five 6 th Place finishes went to Jake Davies in the 11/12 year boys 100m Breaststroke, Keiron Piper (15yrs) in the Open Age final of the 200m Backstroke, Libby Henson (13yrs) in the 13/14 year girls 400m Freestyle, Milly Henson (15yrs) in the 15/over girls 50m Butterfly and Tyler Turner (13yrs) in the 13/14 year girls 200m Breaststroke.

5 New Club Records were set during the weekend with Charlotte Davies in the 400m Individual Medley claiming the 13/14 Girls and Open Club Records. Samantha Woodbridge in the 50m Freestyle claiming the 13/14 Girls and Open Club Records and Jack Little (15yrs) in the 50m Butterfly claiming the Boys 15/16 Club Record.

The Thanet swimmers achieved 30 South East Region ASA Championship automatic qualifying times for this summer. They were Evie Bunte (6), Kyriacos Papa-Adams (5), Libby Henson (4), Keiron Piper (4), Charlotte Davies (3), Samantha Woodbridge (3), Louise Gates (2), Tyler Turner (2) and Jack Little.

A further 12 South East Region ASA Championship base qualifying times were achieved by Tyler Turner (4), Keiron Piper (2), Libby Henson (2), Jake Davies (2), Milly Henson and Jack Little.

There were 30 new Personal Best Times achieved by Kyriacos Papa-Adams (7), Tyler Turner (5), Jake Davies (4), Charlotte Davies (3), Samantha Woodbridge (3), Evie Bunte (3), Jack Little (2), Nathan Woodbridge (2) and Louise Gates. Matthew Fitt also had some good swims
